My family moved around a bit growing up but, with both my parents being raised in Minnesota, we’ve always considered it our home base. We moved back to Minnesota permanently in 2006, entering my freshmen year at Maple Grove Senior High School. I am the middle daughter of three and my family is the most important thing to me. My mother’s Italian heritage was a heavy influence on the way we were raised (i.e. in the kitchen), and to this day I love cooking and consider myself an experienced baker with several small entrepreneurial endeavors under my belt.
I explored a few different sports but committed full time to swimming very early in my childhood. In high school, I was fortunate enough be voted captain senior year and able to compete on our state team several years, even the championship team that won the Minnesota State High School League. During my senior year, I accepted a NCAA Division I scholarship to swim for Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH.
How I Found Crossfit
When I retired from swimming I was desperate for a competitive outlet. I felt very lost and found myself in a deep cardio blackhole, thinking running half-marathons was going to be my new thing. I soon realized it just wasn’t the answer for me. I missed being on a team and having that sense of community I had during my swimming days. My sister had started CrossFit in Virginia and inspired my mom to start here in Minnesota where she found SISU. Through convincing from both of them, and encouragement
from a friend who had recently started CrossFit in Ohio, where I was living at the time, I dropped into my first class. I immediately fell in love with the sport of it. That was in January of 2015, and I haven’t looked back since.
Why I Coach
I coach because I love helping people. There is no greater feeling than helping someone figure out a movement for the first time, getting something to click that they’ve had difficulty with before, or watching them PR a lift. It’s pure joy. I am passionate about continuing to develop my knowledge on all things CrossFit and sharing that with members through classes. I also love contributing to the SISU community and upholding that everyone is capable, welcome, and safe.
