I’ve always been drawn to jobs where the main focus is helping people. As a coach, it’s very rewarding to help people through their fitness journey. I enjoy teaching new skills and witnessing the progress of our members. It’s exciting to be there to celebrate their successes and work through their frustrations.

Growing up, I tried a lot of sports, but my passion was running. I enjoyed the camaraderie of the Cross Country and Track teams and also the self-reliance of competing as an individual. After college, I did a lot of local 5Ks and Half Marathons. These days, I enjoy competing in CrossFit competitions.

Finding CrossFit

When I was in my mid-forties, I found myself trying to run farther because I couldn’t go faster! Honestly, I was in a rut with my running workouts and ready for a change. Initially, I was very intimidated by CrossFit, but I still remember the day my neighbor said, if she could do CrossFit, then anyone could.  She explained how all the movements could be made easier based on your skill level. After a few months of CrossFit, I was all in! I love the challenge, the variety, and the confidence I’ve gained. 

Why I Coach

About Deb

I grew up in Iowa and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, which is in my hometown of Cedar Falls. My husband, Brian, and I moved to the Twin Cities in 1998 and started our family. It’s been quite a journey raising four active and intelligent boys. There have been lots of laughs, some tears, and tons of sweaty athletic gear to wash. A few years ago, when things settled down a bit, we even added two fluffy, attention-loving dogs to the Raymon crew. My BEST day: when all the boys are home, and we share a workout and have a family board game night.
