About Me

Thomas grew up here in the Twin Cities and is the youngest of five children. He is an uncle to nine nieces and nephews. When not at SISU, Thomas enjoys watching sports, binge watching Netflix, going to the movies, and hanging out with friends and family.

Athletic Career

In high school, Thomas played football, hockey, and baseball. Deciding to continue his hockey career after high school, he moved to North Dakota to play junior hockey. While in North Dakota, Thomas was a member of teams that were national tournament runners up as well as national champions. He also played Division I collegiate hockey at Merrimack College just outside Boston. Here his team competed in a Hockey East Championship, an NCAA tournament, as well as a game at Frozen Fenway. His class was the 3rd winningest class in school history, and he earned a Hockey East Distinguished scholar award for four consecutive years on the Hockey East All-Academic team.

How You Found CrossFit

Once his athletic career had finished, Thomas took a hiatus from exercise and healthy eating and found himself rather out of shape. At this point he started to change his life around and got back into a routine of eating healthier and working out again but working out alone at home just wasn’t cutting it. This is around the time that he first saw what CrossFit was after seeing the CrossFit games on tv and thought to himself, “That guy (Rich Froning, 4-time CrossFit Games champion) is shredded I gotta get into what he does.” So a few google searches later, Thomas’ CrossFit journey had begun.

Why I Coach

I coach because I love people. I also can’t get enough of seeing the look of accomplishment and joy when athletes push themselves harder than they’ve ever imagined. There’s nothing quite like the huge smile when someone hits a new PR, gets their first pull-up or rope climb. The biggest reward for me and the best part of my day is seeing athletes changing their lives for the better.
