Celebrating 10 Years of SISU

Good Morning SISU-ites!

This morning I woke up with a little extra pep in my step from the sound of Spring robins singing. I knew it was going to be a great day!

Today, CrossFit SISU is turning 10 years old! It’s been a wild ride so far and I wish we could all be in the gyms to “spread the love” in person, but that is not our reality at the moment.

“We must do the best we can, where we are, with what we have.”

Ten years ago, SISU opened its doors at it’s first location in Wayzata, running our first classes in April 2010! Some of our original members are still with us today, including JD Hurd, Shawn Sailor, Melody Hovda & Jim Keegan. In that first space, we had a 200 meter indoor track and shared the building with the Original Pancake House so the hallways of the empty mall always smelled like bacon.

SISU was born out of chaos, incorporating in late 2009, with an economy in shambles. The stock market had taken it’s largest tumble between October of 2007 and February of 2009, and I had just taken over a failed telecommunications company with the intention of flipping it to a larger company. Those years were brutal for many. It’s uncanny that 10 years later, here we are, with the strangest business climate I have ever experienced.

As a fitness methodology, CrossFit disrupted the fitness market. Early on, experts and pundits said CrossFit was simply a fad. CrossFit now has over 15,000 locations globally making it the largest fitness chain in the world. CrossFit is all about health and wellness, and I could not be more proud of what we have created at SISU.

Our purpose is to EMPOWER & TRANSFORM PEOPLE BOTH MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY. People come to SISU for fitness, they stay because of the community and they get results beyond their expectations. My best friends are here, my entire circle of influence is here, and I take great pride in the work my team has done to get us where we are today.

Our #1 Core Value is, “a passion to serve people and community”.  It’s my hope that you all feel the love and support we are working hard to provide during this crazy time of “shelter in place” and mandatory shut down of our business. Thank you for staying with us as we navigate these uncharted waters.

We look forward to celebrating SISU’s 10 year anniversary with all of you! Mark your calendars for September 19th and join us to not only toast the last 10 years of fitness, community & results but ring in the next decade of SISU.

Thank you for your support.
