What were you doing before CrossFit?

What was I doing before Crossfit you ask?  I played Professional Baseball for a number of years.  I had the privilege of experiencing athletics after college.  Competing at a professional level, I had access and exposure to every kind of workout and workout facility known to my knowledge, accept Zumba.  I did Acceleration Mn, Velocity MN and lifetime fitness in the off seasons. Looking back I only wished I knew about Crossfit , I wouldn’t of wasted my time at those other places.  Granted Kent Hrbek said it best.  “We are not athletes we are baseball players.”  But still to learn the mental fortitude you need to have in Crossfit would have most definitely carried over.  Also they have so many explosive movements in their workouts I wish I knew about back then.

Why did you start doing CrossFit?

After I stop playing baseball, I kind of lost the spark to workout hard and push myself.  I would workout at lifetime but it was lame.  I would keep up with the beach workouts, swim a couple laps, hit the hot tub, grab a chemical filled muscle milk and call it good.  My wife Alyssa told me to try Crossfit.  I drove passed the SISU sign outside of the Wayzata location many times, always thinking what that was all about. I finally pulled the trigger last year and haven’t looked back since.

What apprehensions did you have before starting?

Just like a lot of people I was set on my ways of working out and I certainly thought I was well educated, which is far from the truth. I quickly learned that the first month at SISU. SISU opened my eyes to a new world of working out on a whole different level.  I have achieved both physical and mental changes that I have not experienced before with any other program.

What’s the greatest benefit you see so far since starting CrossFit and SISU?

The greatest benefit I would say that I get out of Sisu is the motivation to work hard and try and improve myself on every movement on a day to day basis.  I enjoy every workout SISU offers,  maybe not the fan bike but everything else I love.
